ENERGY REDUCTION AND ENERGY POLICY

Reduction targets: gas consumption and vehicle fleet

In 2020 our goal is further reducing of our CO2 emissions. We do that with several modifications. Thanks to the purchase of our office building in 2018, we can now invest in sustainability there. Think of a more efficient and smaller boiler and / or a heat pump. In the second half of 2020 we will put solar panels. For that we have already received grants. We expect that we can reduce our emissions significantly thereby. We continue to encourage Thick Sweater. We want to make our employees aware of the relationship between the office temperature and our CO2 emissions.

The policy for the purchase of commercial vehicles remains a point of attention and brought to the attention of the organization. We focus on a maximum emission of 106 grams of CO2 per kilometer for passenger cars. Our preference is for electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids. With our bus we take to EUR6 standard.

As already indicated, we believe we can achieve the most CO2 reduction at customers. This is then to reduce energy consumption at our customers. With innovations and technical developments we want to reduce particularly in data center energy consumption. In 2016 APAC software developed here. From 2017, this software is increasingly sold. For example, we do projects in this area to WWT Oude Meer, It’s me Raamsdonkveer, Datacenter Friesland, Ampco Flashlight Utrecht. Bulk Denmark and EUNetworks.
End of 2019, our supplier Climaveneta introduced its 4th generation chillers with environmentally friendly refrigerants HFO HFO1234ZE and HFO1234YF. Meanwhile Climaveneta in Europe for HFO-refrigeration ships with a total of more than 52MW cooling. One of the most interesting projects is Fortum’s district heating in Espoo, Finland. Here are delivered and installed two heat pumps. This waste heat from a data center of Ericsson is recycled through the heat network of the city of Espoo.
Closer to home, APAC has provided a heat pump Climaveneta in Groningen datacenter Bytesnet. It is connected to the cooling system and the residual heat used to heat office space. Thanks to an agreement with City Heat may in the future even houses and other buildings in the area are heated with the residual heat.
